The Congress, which is in power at the Centre, and the Opposition BJP bifurcated Andhra Pradesh out of “sheer arrogance”, and it is now up to the Telugus to protect their self-respect, said former Chief Minister Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy.
Campaigning for the Jai Samaikyandhra Party in Krishna district, Mr. Reddy took out road shows in Jaggaiahpeta, Vatsavai and Penuganchiprolu in the district on Friday.
Mr. Reddy said: “TRS leader Mr. K. Chandrasekhar Rao is of the opinion that elections were just an interval in the bifurcation movie, but I say the movie had not yet begun because the bifurcation will not take place.”
Explaining the need for the formation of the new party, he said two regional parties and two national parties that had a presence in Andhra Pradesh had bifurcated the State without any concern for the welfare and future of the Telugus.
“Telugu Desam Party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu and YSRC leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy are responsible for the division of the State, and now they are eying the post. I had renounced the post for the cause of united Andhra,” Mr. Reddy said.
He added that several parties were against bifurcation.
Bifurcation was a great loss to all Telugus including the people of Telangana. It was only a matter of time before they realised it, the former Chief Minister added.
