Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has showered promises and boons on people on second day of Indiramma bata programme on Wednesday.
Following request from Tiruvur MLA Dirisam Padmajyothi, the chief minister has agreed to construct a stadium with a cost of Rs. 1 crore to R. 1.25 crore as the local MLA and Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal has assured him that requisite land would be shown by them.
He also agreed to sanction funds to strengthen 300 irrigation and drinking water tanks located in Tiruvur constituency in a phased manner; four model schools were also sanctioned for four mandals in the constituency.
The feasibility of setting up an agriculture polytechnic or regular polytechnic college would also be looked into, he assured.
Referring to SC, ST Sub Plan, Mr. Reddy said that the committee on the SC, ST Sub Plan had submitted its report recently.
"The government was committed to enact a law for effective implementation of the sub plans. For the last 20 years, the funds earmarked under the SC,ST sub plans were not reaching the SCs and STs. Very soon the situation would improve," he assured.
Welfare schemes
Doling out statistics, the chief minister said that the government was implementing 8.50 crore welfare schemes with a total budget of Rs 26,000 crore per annum.
The government was spending Rs. 28,000 crore on education alone. The government would shoulder the burden of interest on loans taken by the Self Help Groups (SHGs) and crop loans by the farmers provided the SHGs and farmers paid back the principle amount in stipulated time.
On Indira Jala Prabha, he said that the government has plans to spend Rs. 20 crore to provide assistance for borewells, drip irrigation etc. It would help the farmers, who were solely dependent on rains/tanks for agricultural purposes.
Ports Minister Ganta Srinivas, Secondary Education Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy, Social Welfare Minister Pithani Satyanarayana, district incharge minister Thota Narasimham, Vijayawda MP Lagadpati Raajagopal, MLC Jelli Wilson, Tiruvur MLA Dirisam Padmajyothi, Pedana MLA Jogi Rameh, Mylavaram MLA Devineni Umamaaheswara Rao, Machilipatnam MLA Perni Venkataramaiah (Nani) and others were present.
