In another setback to the YSR Congress in Prakasam district, Kandukur MLA Pothula Rama Rao joined the TDP in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu here on Thursday.

With Mr. Rama Rao’s exit from the YSRC, its tally of MLAs in the district came down to two from six. MLAs P. David Raju (Yerragondapalem), G. Ravi Kumar (Addanki), and Ashok Reddy (Giddalur) had already quit the party. Mr. Rama Rao said he was thankful to the Chief Minister for accepting his entry. He said Mr. Naidu positively responded to the plea to take up projects like Rallapadu reservoir on a priority basis. Welcoming Mr. Rama Rao into the party, Mr. Naidu said he needed the cooperation of all parties for solving the problems of the State.
