Kanaka Durga temple insures Bhavanis

The Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devasthanam has insured the lives of Bhavani devotees thronging Indrakeeladri to relinquish their deeksha in the city from December 12 to 16. Temple Executive Officer Ch. Narsing Rao on Tuesday said the temple had paid a premium of Rs.1.5 lakh to New India Assurance Company Ltd. for insuring the lives of 7 lakh devotees. The insurance company will pay Rs. 1.5 lakh to the kith and kin of any devotee who died accidentally either in queue lines or at bathing ghats. This is first time that the Kanaka Durga temple is insuring devotees’ lives, he said.
