K. Viyanna Rao appointed 15th V-C of ANU

K. Viyanna Rao, who was appointed as Vice-Chancellor of Acharya Nagarjuna University on Wednesday, will assume charge here on Monday. Dr. K.V Rao who has been holding the responsibilities of In-Charge Vice Chancellor of ANU and Krishna University since June 2011 was appointed as the 15th Vice Chancellor. A host of senior professors congratulated Dr. Rao in his chambers.

University Registrar G. Prasad who is also principal of Arts, Commerce and Law College, P. Siddhaiah (Principal of College of Engineering & Technology), Prameela Rani (Pharmacy), Shyama Sundar (Science), Y . Kishore (Physical Education) and Joint Registrar Manikyala Rao called on the V-C and congratulated him. Office bearers of non-teaching associations, Kanaka Raju, contractual association, Bitra Subba Rao also met the V-C. Dr. Rao began his long stint at ANU as a lecturer in commerce in the year 1979 and went on to occupy several teaching and administrative positions in a career spanning 33 years. He was promoted as reader and then as a Professor of Commerce in 1994. He was appointed as Financial Advisor to the V-C and served as special officer of examinations during 1995-1997.

A native of Ghatasala village in Krishna district, Dr. Rao graduated from Andhra Jateeya Kalasala, Machilipatnam and completed his Post Graduation from ANU. Dr. Rao was appointed as Dean, College Development Council in 2003 and was promoted as Registrar in 2006.

He assumed charge as Rector in 2008 and has been holding the responsibility of In Charge V-C since September 2011.
