With dreams in their eyes, scores of young minds were seen tagging along with their parents to the corporate junior intermediate colleges, especially those that offer residential facility, here in the city on Monday.

The admission process has started and students from various districts in the State and also from other States were seen making a beeline for the colleges from early in the morning, with their luggage.

Most of the colleges wore a festive look, as the campuses were full of students and their parents. The colleges had made elaborate arrangements to handle even the new boarders. The colleges had set-up food kiosks, water counters and enquiry desks to make life easier for the new entrants.

B. Chaitanya, who hails from Khammam district, said, “I know that it is going to be two years grind, but I am prepared for it. I have opted for the long term EAMCET coaching along with Intermediate in this corporate college. I am happy that I have got admission into this college, but I am equally sad that I have to stay away from my parents and my little sister.”

Rat race

The rat race for EAMCET or IIT-JEE has begun and parents appear to be keener than the students to put their wards in the race.

“My only dream is to see that my only daughter becomes an engineer. And I have pledged a part of my farm land to pay the fees in this residential college,” said an agriculturist from Telangana region Ramana Reddy.

Most of these colleges, apart from providing coaching for Intermediate, offer packages in tune with the IQ level and passion of the students.

The administrative officer of a corporate college informed,

“We have different brands. If a student is good then we advise him to take up Intermediate with long term IIT-JEE and AIEEE coaching. For average students we prescribe Inter with EAMCET (long term). We also have Intermediate packaged with CA-CPT (Chartered Accountancy- Common Proficiency Test) and Intermediate with foundation course for Civil Services. And all the coaching comes under one roof.”
