At a time when rival media groups are spewing venom on one another, a TV channel ran a story that TDP Guntur Lok Sabha candidate Galla Jayadev had packed up and was about to close down his office, hours before the polling commences.

The video clipping showed an empty tent in front of the guest house leased by Jayadev for campaign purpose.

Within minutes, infuriated TDP leaders rushed to the office. And, Jayadev Galla himself condemned the report, saying it was a fabricated one.

“It shows the desperation in the rival camp. The Election Commission needs to have a relook at the ownership of media houses owned by political parties and take up stringent steps to stop slanderous campaigns,” Jayadev said.

He added that he stood by his commitment to stay and work in Guntur regardless of the electoral outcome.
