Impressed with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s capital plans that envisage collaborations with countries like Japan and Singapore, a 60-member delegation representing over 30 companies from Japan visited Vijayawada and Thullur, the new Capital region for Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday.

After landing at Gannavaram airport, the delegation led by the Minister (Economic and Development), Japan, Akio Isomata, first attended a conference organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) with the theme: ‘Andhra Pradesh as logistics nerve centre’ in connection with its annual meeting. They later surveyed the Thullur region in two helicopters.

Dozen members each in two helicopters surveyed the Capital region till evening before boarding a flight to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Hyderabad. A senior official said the main objective of visit was to assess the opportunities and resources available in the Capital region. They also interacted with Krishna District Collector Babu A.

The team will meet Mr. Naidu during a programme to be convened on Thursday at 10 a.m. at a hotel in Hyderabad. Besides giving a power-point presentation, 18 entrepreneurs will give a presentation on technological knowledge, a CII official said.

Earlier, speaking at CII conference, Mr. Isomata said that Andhra Pradesh was a strategic location to develop into a business centre, because of its 1,000 km-long sea coast. “We have a dream to work closely together with A.P. and why we have decided is due to the strong leadership in the State,” he said.

According to him, many investors from Japan faced problems relating to infrastructure facilities and administrative procedures before and after coming to India. “There will not only be interactions between the AP and Japan governments, but also with the investors,” he added.
