Welcoming the government decision to conduct “Janmabhoomi – Maa Vuuru” programme, the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) wanted the government to use the mass contact programme as a platform to address public grievances.
In its previous tenure, the TDP government utilised the programme as a media campaign but failed to address public grievances and this should not be repeated again, PCC president N. Raghuveera Reddy said here on Sunday.
“People are suspecting the TDP’s commitment in fulfilling its poll promises, especially loan waiver. People will question the government about these promises and these issues should be included in the programme,” said Mr. Reddy. However, he suspected the government’s commitment to implementation of poll promises. “This is evident from the fact that the party manifesto which was placed prominently on the TDP website was removed. There is a need to clarify the doubts that are being raised in this regard,” he said.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is planning to scrap the Amma Hastham scheme introduced by the Congress, under which people were entitled to get nine commodities. Referring to Aadhaar-white ration card linkage, he said: “We are not against Aadhaar linkage but the government should not terrify people over the issue.”
