ISRO scientist inducted as pro-chancellor of KLU

With the aim of nurturing Koneru Lakshmaiah University (KLU) as one of the country's top universities, its management has inducted A. Bhaskaranarayana, a scientist who had worked in the Indian Space Research Organisation for 40 years, as Pro-Chancellor.

Introducing Dr. Bhaskaranarayana to media persons on Saturday, KLU Chancellor Koneru Satyanarayana said that the ISRO was among the top four space research institutions in the world because of its commitment to perfection.

“We want to inculcate such discipline and commitment among the students and felt that Dr. Bhaskaranarayana is the right person for the job,” he said.

A graduate from IIT-Chennai, Dr. Bhaskaranarayana discharged many crucial responsibilities in the ISRO, such as scientific secretary, director of satellite communication programmes, frequency management programme, INSAT and programme director of Edusat and telemedicine.

“He was associated with the development of Aryabhatta, which is India's first satellite.

He was also responsible for introduction of latest state-of-the-art technologies in communication satellite systems to enable these systems to be commensurate with the latest trends in world.
