The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has chalked out plans to launch ‘Intintiki Telugu Desam’ programme before month-end in the city.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, TDP urban president K. Nagul Meera said that the programme would be launched in all the divisions of the three Assembly constituencies in the city.
The Telugu Desam would highlight the failures of the Congress government during the programme. The elected representatives in the city had miserably failed in taking up the city issues with the government. Though the prices of essential commodities were skyrocketing the government remained a mute spectator. Sub-standard vegetables and essential commodities were being sold at the rythu bazaars.
Mr. Meera said that the TDP had planned to organise a dharna in front of Sub-Collector's office here on Saturday demanding that the State government make the city ‘Greater Vijayawada’.
The government was dilly-dallying on the ‘Greater Vijayawada’ proposal while many other corporations marched ahead.
Vijayawada MP and other elected representatives were hoodwinking the people saying that the city had witnessed never-before progress and development during the Congress rule.
The elected representatives were content with the projects taken up under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) programme, he added. TDP Vijayawada (Central) incharge Bonda Umamaheswara Rao also spoke.
