An innovative health and fitness regimen designed by endocrinologists here is working wonders for people suffering from diabetes and other life-style disorders.
City-based Kongara Srikanth has devised a three-month crash fitness-cum-diet control programme supplemented by constant monitoring of sugar levels called ‘Dialife’, at Endolife Hospitals here. An exclusive fitness centre with the latest equipment has been opened on the hospital premises.
“Sedentary life style change is the biggest problem of present society, and human effort is gradually going down. People are becoming used to consuming excess food and becoming prone to diabetes,” Dr. Srikanth said.
The training programme consists of aerobic training aided by a fitness trainer, diet control regimen assisted by a dietician and constant medical support by a team of endocrinologists.
“I had seen the programme work wonders with my patients in Vijayawada. We have more than 80 people enrolled in the programme,” said Dr. Srikanth. The exercise regimen consists of aerobic exercises on treadmill, cross trainer or rowing machine, cardio exercises to strengthen muscles and regular monitoring of blood sugar levels.
The programme has already benefited people from various walks of life. “Since enrolling in the programme, I have lost 12 kg of weight. My intake of medicine has come down after my sugar levels became normal,” said K. Srinivas, a lawyer. People of all ages have been enrolling in the programme, which is open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
