Sanjeev K. Varshney of the International Bilateral Cooperation Division, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, on Monday threw light on how bilateral cooperation between Indian Government and several other countries are operated.
Addressing the inaugural session of a three-day India-Sri Lanka workshop on “Transdermal Drug Delivery Systems – Regulatory Requirements in Asian Scenario” organised by the city-based KVSR Siddhartha College of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Taj Gateway, Mr. Varshney covered other key issues such as what kind of grants could be allocated by the department, exchange of knowledge between nations in terms of research publications and also patent rights in the intellectual property. He also highlighted commercialisation of technology that is generated by the research work.
In the afternoon session, he explained about the various funding opportunities at the Department of Science and Technology and other funding agencies of the Government of India.
Vamsi Venuganti, Head of the Department of Pharmacy, BITS, Hyderabad, spoke about breaching the skin barrier to delivery therapeutic agents while Butchi N. Nalluri of the host college spoke on “Drug in Adhesive Transdermal Path Development – From Skin Permeation to Product Development.
In the post-noon session, Mr. Venuganti threw light on “Nano-carriers for Transcutaneous Drug Delivery while Pattabhi from Dr. Reddys Laboratories spoke at length about the approach for generic product development.
Director, Drug Regulatory Authority, Government of Sri Lanka V.S.M. Beneragama, Dean/faculty of Allied Health Sciences, University of Peradeniya D.B.M. Wikramaratne, Siddhartha Academy president N. Venkateswarlu and others were present.
