AP Innovation Society (APIS), in collaboration with Startup Squid Technologies LLP and P.B. Siddhartha College of Arts & Science, has launched ‘Siddhartha Incubation Space’ on the college premises.

As per an agreement signed, the college will provide infrastructure while APIS provides mentorship. Startup Squid takes the responsibility of nurturing the ideas of the students and promises to materialise at least five ideas in a year. The firm will otherwise pay ₹5 lakh to the Society.

The government had been encouraging initiatives related to social entrepreneurship across various institutions, said APIS CEO V. Valli Kumari.

“This centre does not just promote IT-based ideas. Innovation Society is very much interested in promoting social entrepreneurship. This centre will play a key role in innovations for rural areas,” Dr. Valli Kumari said.

“It is the first college in the state to have the opportunity of setting up an incubation centre in collaboration with the Society. We would provide the entire infrastructure required for the centre,” said College Director V. Babu Rao.

Founder of Startup Squid Technologies S. Sree Krishna said that a team of 12 experts in various fields would review the ideas generated and support the students throughout the year.

‘Selfie Startup Pitch’

A smartphone application named ‘Selfie Startup Pitch’ by Startup Squid was launched by Dr. Valli Kumari. Through the app, anyone having a start-up idea can download it and upload a selfie video of them explaining the idea. Before that, they have to take up a free entrepreneurship programme of four hours and get certification, Mr. Sree Krishna said.

College Principal M. Ramesh and Dean R. Jampala were present.
