“The Indira Gandhi National Open University will very soon have a sub-centre at Tirupati to cater to the four Rayalaseema districts of Andhra Pradesh,” announced its Vice-Chancellor M. Aslam during the 26 convocation on Friday.

Making this announcement from New Delhi over televised programme shown at the convocation function organised at KBN College in the city, he said the sub-centre would be attached to the Vijayawada Regional Centre with B. Prasada Rao as its in-charge.

At the convocation function, Regional Director V. Venugopala Reddy, reading out the annual achievement report of the region, said 230 students had registered to take their certificates from the Regional Centre at the convocation. IGNOU was finding a lot of demand for M.Sc.

During the coming year, five new sub-centres have been announced in the country and out of them one will be set up at Tirupati.

Andhra University Registrar K. Rama Mohana Rao, who was the guest of honour, giving away the certificates to the successful candidates, asked them to continuously upgrade their knowledge and remember the ‘INSPIRE’ formula.

Giving some interesting expansion for the word, he said ‘I’ stood for Innovation, ‘N’ for networking, ‘S’ for Scientific analysis, ‘P’ for Pro-activeness, ‘I’ for Integrity, ‘R’ for Resourcefulness, and ‘E’ for Entrepreneurship.
