Film-maker Steven Shankar says he has successfully experimented with a new genre in his first film, ‘Hrudaya Kaleyam,’ which was released across 200 screens on April 4.
“We have experimented by making a movie on a low budget, with nondescript cast and high technical values. The movie is doing extremely well and has created a buzz even in multiplexes,” says Shankar, whose original name is Sai Rajesh. “I wanted my name to be different, a combination of Hollywood’s Steven Spielberg and Kollywood’s Shankar,” he says.
Attributing the success of the movie to the tremendous reach and influence of the social media, he said the first promo had one lakh hits, which was on par with a blockbuster. He also thanked producers D. Suresh, Allu Aravind and Tammareddy Bharadwaj for their support.
Incidentally, the hero, Sampoornesh Babu, fights, sings and dances like other Tollywood heroes. Quirky, buoyant and full of energy, Babu has become a cult figure among his fans.
Kavya, the dimple-cheeked heroine, said it was fun to act and added that she would be appearing in guest role in ‘Kobbari Matta.’ Film critic and actor Kathi Mahesh said Hrudaya Kaleyam was a creative take on the present Telugu cinema. Shankar said he used Red Epic photography technology to shoot the film and added that 5-D camera does not give the depth.Felicitation
The film crew was felicitated by E.V.V. Kalavahini here on Friday. Secretary of the organisation V. Krishnamurthy presented them with shawls and mementoes of Lord Venkateswara.
