How can Naidu be trusted, asks Vijayamma

On the TDP’s promise that the retirement age of government employees will be raised to 60 years, she recalls orders issued by the TDP government, fixing retirement age at 55

April 22, 2014 01:07 pm | Updated May 21, 2016 12:47 pm IST - PRATTIPADU (East Godavari):

Accusing Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N. Chandrababu Naidu of deceiving people by making false promises on the poll eve, YSRC honorary president Vijayamma on Monday wondered how the TDP could provide one job to each household.

“Mr. Naidu is responsible for the closure of public sector undertakings. Thousands of employees and lakhs of workers became jobless owing to his privatisation policies. How do you trust this person, who is promising you the moon now?” she asked.

Vijayamma was in the district to participate in ‘YSR Janabheri,’ the party’s campaign. YSRC workers showered petals on her convoy and raised the slogans, ‘YSR Amar Rahe’ and ‘Jai Jagan.’

Stating that the entire annual budget for residual Andhra Pradesh would be around Rs. 1.25 lakh crore, Vijayamma said the promises being made by Mr. Naidu were beyond the budget.

“How can he generate funds for keeping his promises? Does he know the quantum of funds being released by the Centre?” she asked.

On the TDP’s promise that the retirement age of government employees would be raised to 60 years, Vijayamma recalled the orders issued by the TDP government, forcing employees to opt for retirement at the age of 55.

“Mr. Naidu then stated that corruption was rampant only due to government employees.

He is the man who introduced contract employment system in place of regular employment. Now, he is promising jobs and job security,” she said, advising people to vote for the YSRC for a better future.

“Jagan is a committed leader and will implement all welfare schemes launched by late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy,” she said.
