Pilgrims visiting the city are likely to experience the infamous weather condition of Vijayawada, known as Blazewada, during Krishna Pushkaralu, which begins on Friday.
For the past couple of days, the city has been witnessing hot weather and humid conditions are making the lives of people miserable.
The scorching heat has resulted in mercury hitting the 35 degrees Celsius mark in the monsoon month, which is supposed to be cool with a dash of showers.
Wednesday recorded the maximum temperature of 36. 5 degrees Celsius and people involved in last-minute Krishna Pushkaralu works had a torrid time.
“It is like summer. Several works got stretched beyond the deadline owing to uncomfortable weather,” says a superintending engineer. Though there was a slight dip in temperature (35.1 degrees Celsius) on Thursday, the Sun was at its blazing best spreading discomfort.
The weatherman has said that the coming week would be hot enough to annoy people coming to the city to take a holy dip in the dozens of ghats spruced up along the Krishna river.
