Collector reviews functioning of government hostels
The Social Welfare and other government hostels in Krishna district will be renovated at an estimated cost of Rs. 4.5 crore.
Collector Buddha Prakash M.Jyothi reviewed the functioning of the government hostels on Wednesday said that Rs 2.4 crore have been released by the government for the renovation of the hostels by December end. Proposals for another Rs 2.1 crore have been forwarded to the government for approval, he said.
The details of all the hostels in the district should be compiled on line.
A computer should be earmarked for this purpose in the office of the Assistant Social Welfare Officer, the Collector said.
Departments that implemented welfare schemes should review the progress of implementation of the schemes every month the Collector said.
The Collector said toilet facilities should be provided in every hostel.
The septic tanks of the toilets should be cleaned periodically and this should be done by SC Finance Corporation Beneficiaries, who have been given cleaning machines.
In places land was not available G + 1 constructions should be planned.
He said officials should strive to get 100 per cent pass percentage because all the children are intelligent. With the proper approach all the students would pass, he said. The hostellers should be educated and trained using computer-aided learning. He urged the hostel staff to encourage the students to meditate. The hostel staff should grant post-metric scholarships in a transparent manner.
Utmost importance should be given to the “Athmiyudu” programme.
The officials concerned with the programme should visit the hostels twice a month and the concerned revenue officials should also review progress of the programme once in a month, he said.
