Groundwater Resources Department Deputy Director A. Varaprasad and District Educational Officer Krishna Reddy on Friday jointly organised a meeting for headmasters of the city's municipal and private schools on the importance of water conservation and management as a run up to ‘Jalam badi', a programme on water management, which will be held on October 31 in all the schools of the Krishna District.

Mr. Vara Prasad, who addressed the meeting in which 90 headmasters took part at the Patamata High School, asked them (teachers) to highlight the significance of water conservation and management to the students. “Water is precious and students should be taught about its importance. Along with society, schools play a crucial role in imparting the knowledge about water management to youngsters in a big manner,” he added.

He said students by observing discipline while using the school tap can save water everyday. “Students should desist from washing their hands and tiffin boxes by keeping the tap open”. Essay writing and elocution competitions will be conducted on October 31 while the quiz competition will be held on November 1 to the students of Class 8, 9 and 10 in the city and municipal limits.
