The High Commission of India in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday promised to help with the early repatriation of four Indian youths who were stranded in Putrajaya City in Malaysia without a job for more than a month.
After being contacted by the youths on May 14, The Hindu got in touch with the State through an e-mail to the High Commission of India in Kuala Lumpur. On May 15, the High Commission Attache Anuradha Sundaramurthy contacted the four youths – P. Mohan of Srikakulam district and Nooka Raju, Soory Babu and R. Ganesh of Visakhapatnam district.
“We have requested the youths to visit our office on Monday for assistance in their immigration clearance to enable their early repatriation,” said Ms. Sundarmurthy in her e-mail to The Hindu on Thursday.
A Vijayawada-based travel agent had sent them to Putrajaya by granting them ‘tourist visa’, which was valid till the last week of March. “We have no work since early April. The agent did not reveal to us the nature of the visa, and thus we are stranded here,” Nooka Raju and P. Mohan told The Hindu over phone.
