Several parts of the district received moderate to heavy rain on Tuesday. Normal life was hit as Guntur city, Bapatla, Mangalagiri and other towns which were pounded by rain in the early hours and the weather continued to be inclement throughout the day.

A two-year-old girl died and three others were injured at Chintalatanda in Macherla mandal when a portion of the roof of their house caved in under the impact of incessant rain.

Meanwhile, the rain came as a blessing for farmers, who have been desperately looking for the monsoon to bring enough rains to carry on raising paddy and cotton crops. The district and village levels officials were instructed to be on alert due to the forecast of more rains during the next few days.
