Touching scenes were witnessed at the mortuary where the bodies of the five persons, buried alive at the worksite, were kept for post mortem.

Relatives of the deceased wept inconsolably as they struggled to come to grips with the tragedy in their lives. Residents of NTR Colony came in droves to console the families who lost their bread winners.

Police had a tough time in controlling the surging crowds at the worksite in Kakumanivari Thota as leaders of political parties visited and consoled the relatives of the deceased.

Tense moments were witnessed in the morning when relatives refused to allow the police to shift the body of a deceased to the mortuary.

Some of the workers who were injured recollected the traumatic moments. Veera Venu, who is studying degree, said that he had been working part time to support his family.

``We have been pleading with the mason not to put our lives at risk by digging a trench but he forced us to do the work,'' said Venu. Four of the deceased were women.

Heart-rending sights were witnessed as the relatives clutched the bodies of the deceased and wept inconsolably.
