‘Happy Sunday has attracted people from all age groups’

More games, sports and cultural activities will be introduced, says Mayor

City Mayor Koneru Sridhar on Sunday said the ‘Happy Sunday’ programme has succeeded in attracting the city youth and people of all walks life over the past one year since it began.

Mr. Sridhar was speaking at the Happy Sunday programme held at BRTS Road. He said that people have been voluntarily coming forward to take part in the programme on first Sunday of every month and the patronage has gone up by the month. He said that more games, sports and cultural activities involving the people would be introduced at the two venues of BRTS Road and M.G. Road.

MLA Bonda Umaheswara Rao said that Happy Sunday programme was helping the happiness index of state go up of late. Zilla parishat chairperson Gadde Anuradha said such programmes should be organised in other parts of the district and called on people to come forward with families and take part in the event more often.

Representatives of Merck Health Care have distributed dehydration drinks to the participants and other public as part of its initiative to help people overcome dehydration problem in the summer season. Youth took part in various games and sports organised at BRTS road and M.G. Road near IGMC stadium. Also, dances to latest numbers were performed by dancers at BRTS road venue. In-charge commissioner D. Chandrasekhar, sports in-charge N. Sridhar, corporators and others were present.
