Baring a couple of operators, many do not have good facilities/amenities for the passengers to offer at boarding points and create traffic jams.

Tens of private buses ply from the city to various destinations across the country every day. A good number of people rely on their services for various reasons, however, the other side of the coin has a sordid tale to tell.

Baring a couple of operators, many do not have good facilities/amenities for the passengers to offer at boarding points and create traffic jams.

The buses start from Police Control Room, Benz Circle and Hanumanpet and a few other areas where the operators have ticket booking agents. Rain or shine the travel agents hardly provide any facility to the passengers.

A person standing on footpaths and in front of travel agent offices to board buses is very common and people do not even complain.

Same is not the case with APSRTC, where even a small lacuna is highlighted in a big manner. Except for few stools, they provide neither drinking water nor have toilet facilities.

“The aged and women are the worst sufferers. The operators keep mum when asked about toilets. Sometimes they argue that it was not their duty to provide toilets,” says G. Madhurima, who is a regular traveller to Hyderabad from Hanumanpet. In addition, the traffic jams and noisy scenes is an every day affair near Police Control Room (PCR), Benz Circle, Hanumanpet etc. in the city. The traffic jams are a regular phenomenon at these places as private bus operators park their buses on Main Road. Also, the role of traffic police in lacking to manage the traffic cannot be ruled out.

The bus operators blatantly park buses outside the exit points of the PNBS to higher number of passengers.

The vehicle users allege that they hardly see police manning the area. The bus operators blatantly park vehicles on the road without caring about the traffic.
