The glittering mega-shopping carnival, The Hindu-Eenadu Lifestyle Show-2009, got off to a sparkling start with a good number of visitors steadily pouring in even before Krishna District Collector Peeyush Kumar formally inaugurated it on Thursday evening.

Mr. Peeyush Kumar, who spent nearly an hour, visiting many stalls, said these kind of exhibitions provide an excellent platform for manufacturers to showcase their products. These events would also help in promotion of trade. It would also be a good opportunity for people who had plans to go for a new house or buy some household articles, he said, adding in a lighter vein, “I will suggest to my wife to pay a visit to the show.”

The Collector noted that this annual exhibition was a perfect opportunity for manufacturers and retailers to showcase their products, and for people to access them all under one roof. Consumers would benefit also because some of the products, especially artefacts and decorative pieces, might not be available in the outside market as some of the traders from foreign countries were participating in the show, he noted, and congratulated The Hindu and its partners for conducting such an event on a large-scale in the city. Even before the inauguration of the show, the two air-conditioned hangars were packed with the visitors who streamed in non-stop.

Trendy products

Mr. Peeyush Kumar went around the stalls and made enquiries about some products. He tried a massage machine that was put on display by Robotouch, and readily obliged the lensmen who requested him to pose for a photograph with decorative swords and riffles that were exhibited by a trader from Jharkhand. He actively interacted with the exhibitors who displayed marble furniture, indoor and outdoor fountains, handicrafts and kitchenware. The exhibition will remain open every day from 10.30 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. till September 14 (Monday). The entry fee is Rs.30. The categories featured in the show are consumer electronics, home appliances, furniture and furnishing, perfumes and cosmetics, bathroom fittings, kitchen accessories, arts and handicrafts, automobiles and accessories, beauty and health, travel and tourism, fashion, textile and jewellery, computer and IT products, luxurious home needs and interiors, apartments and other allied products.
