GPS to be introduced in RTC buses soon

Vice Chairman and Managing Director of APSRTC B. Prasada Rao has said GPS technology will be introduced in about 12, 000 buses of the Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation.

The RTC will introduce more number of air conditioned bus services in the districts to cater to the demands from the public.

Addressing a meeting held on the premises of Guntur-2 depot as part of ‘More from the same', Mr. Rao said the RTC would introduce at least two AC bus services in every district. The RTC has already introduced its new fleet of 4,000 buses during last year and has added several value added services to the existing bus services.

The RTC would shortly introduce AC services to Tirupati/Tirumala as there has been a spurt in demand for these services. Calling upon the mechanical workers and drivers to strive for optimum savings on fuel, he said optimal utilisation of various units and spare items would increase reliability as well as customer satisfaction.

The M.D highlighted the importance of performing “Parirakshana” with true spirit, a voluntary programme to safeguard the corporation from getting preyed by the private operators.

Later he congratulated the staff who have won five awards at the national-level for their pioneering performance across various aspects like conservation of oil, Road Safety and low cost maintenance.

Executive Director, ( E, IT & HRD) G. Jaya Rao said the region could save Rs. 9 crores over a year and the corporation Rs100 crore with ease. Executive Director, Vijayawada zone, Prakasa Rao, regional manager, Guntur P.V Rama Rao, Bramhananda Reddy and Guntur-1depot manager Venkateswara Rao were present.
