Govt. staff, pensioners donate Rs. 10 crore to CM’s relief fund

70,000 government employees and 10,000 pensioners donated their two-day payment for the cyclone victims. Rajya Sabha member Y. Sujana Chowdary on Friday appreciated the Andhra Chamber of Commerce and Industry Federation (ACCIF) for making a substantial contribution towards relief operations in the cyclone-hit areas.

The State government employees and pensioners from Krishna district donated Rs.10 crore to the CM’s relief fund for taking up relief measures in cyclone-hit Visakhapatnam and its neighbouring districts.

In a press release here, APNGO’s city joint secretary V.V. Prasad said as many as 70,000 government employees and 10,000 pensioners donated their two-day payment amounting to Rs.10 crore to CM’s relief fund. He said the staff from different government departments went to the cyclone affected areas to participate in the relief works.

Meanwhile, the Krishna Urban Union of Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) under its efforts to extend support and help to Hudhud cyclone affected families donated Rs.20,000 to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Led by APUWJ State vice-president Ambati Anjaneyalu, the union members presented a cheque worth Rs.20,000 to Krishna Collector M. Raghunandan Rao at his camp office here on Friday.

Rajya Sabha member Y. Sujana Chowdary on Friday appreciated the Andhra Chamber of Commerce and Industry Federation (ACCIF) for making a substantial contribution towards relief operations in the cyclone-hit areas.

Mr. Chowdary was speaking after receiving Rs. 25 lakh towards cyclone assistance from members of ACCIF here on Friday. The members also promised to donate Rs. 2 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. ACCIF president M. Murali Krishna, vice-president P.V. Koteswara Rao and secretary Ch. R.K. Prasad were present.
