Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Revenue K.E. Krishna Murthy on Thursday said that the government was thinking whether to get a fresh land survey done or take up a supplementary survey adding to the records dating back to the year 1960. That was when the last survey was conducted. A decision would be taken soon about updating the database in an appropriate manner.
To help the State handle land records better and secure them, the Central government was ready to extend assistance of Rs.872 crore under the Digital India Land Records Management Program, he said.
Addressing the media here, Mr. Krishna Murthy said those criticising the Revenue Department for high level of corruption would do well to take note of the shady deals happening in some other departments. However, the Revenue Department was doing its best to curb bribery and frauds within its ranks, he added.
Modernisation
As part of the modernisation of the Survey Department, 623 Electronic Total Station machines had been provided and 6.40 lakh acres surveyed by them.
One DGPS (Differentiated Global Positioning System) will be provided to each district in the coming days and efforts are on to utilise drones on a large scale.
Mr. Krishna Murthy further said that the State stood first in seeding pattadar passbooks with Aadhaar and led other States in various schemes pertaining to land records management and rendering public services thereof.
To ensure that the eligible farmers were sanctioned loans, the government formed a “loan charge creation modules” in banks, and adangal and 1-B forms were linked with them. In 2016-17, details of 6.32 loan accounts were integrated with 21.87 survey numbers.
Mr. Krishna Murthy said 71.69 per cent of the Mee-Seva services were related to the Revenue Department. A huge number (78.84 lakh) of adangal copies were issued during the year.
The government was providing an opportunity to BPL families for regularising government lands measuring up to 100 square yards occupied by them in cities and regularising on payment of nominal fee in respect of lands measuring between 100 and 500 square yards occupied in towns and rural areas.
