As the swearing-in ceremony of the Chief Minister-designate N. Chandrababau Naidu is due on Sunday (June 8) is nearing by, the top brass of almost all government Departments are on their toes to ensure full-proof arrangements for the mega event.
A special focus is being laid on the protocol arrangements as scores of dignitaries from across the country are likely attending the programme. Principal Secretary (Roads and Buildings) Sam Bob, along with Special Officer Naveen Mittal, reviewed the protocol arrangements being made for the event, at a high-level meeting with liaison officers at the Collector’s camp office here on Thursday.
Mr. Bob said that there was no scope for complacency as hundreds of VVIP and VIPs including several Union Ministers and Chief Ministers were attending the programme. Liaison officers were supposed to visit the places where accommodation was provided to the visiting dignitaries to avoid any goof-up at the eleventh hour on June 7 and 8.
“A route-map has also been prepared for the purpose and it must be strictly adhered to. It was a gargantuan task to be accomplished with a concerted effort,” he said.
District Collector M. Raghunandana Rao said as many as 240 rooms had been reserved in various hotels in the city under the supervision of Sub-Collector D. Harichandana to accommodate the VIP visitors. Allotment of rooms was made by a special cell headed by Joint Collector J. Murali.
Meanwhile, the district officials are putting in efforts on a war footing to maintain sanitation at the tourist destinations as those are likely to be visited by the dignitaries. Joint Collector Murali, Municipal Commissioner C. Hari Kiran, trainee IAS officer Ch. Sridhar and others also took part in the review meeting.
