Government mental hospital at Tirupati

A government mental hospital is being planned at Tirupati as Visakhapatnam is at the other corner of the State, said Minister for Health Kamineni Srinivas on Saturday.

Inaugurating the two-day 36{+t}{+h}annual national conference of the Indian Psychiatrists Society here, the Minister said the undivided Andhra Pradesh had two mental hospitals, one at Yerragadda in Hyderabad and the second at Visakhapatnam.

After bifurcation, the Yerragadda mental hospital had gone to Hyderabad. Therefore, there was a need for establishing another mental hospital as soon as possible.

Prakash N. Kothari, Padma Shri award winner and HOD of Sexual Medicine at the King Edward Memorial Hospital and Seth Gordhandas Sunderdas Medical College, Mumbai, spoke about the importance of sex education.
