Secondary Education Minister K. Parthasarathy has sought people’s blessings for the government which is making relentless efforts for alleviating the living conditions of the poor and downtrodden.
At the inaugural of the third round of Rachchabanda programme at Poranki village in Penamaluru mandal on Monday, activists of the CPI (M) and CPI and some people’s organisations protested against the government alleging that it was not solving their problems.
Their grievances remained pending for a long, but the government had little time for redressing them due to various reasons including the volatile situation prevalent in the State, he said. The police took some of the protestors into custody as they raised slogans against the government and tried to obstruct the proceedings.
They demanded that the Minister explain why the government failed in keeping its promises made in the previous round of Rachchabanda. The Minister replied that necessary action would be taken to redress their grievances but the protestors were not satisfied with his assurances.
Mr. Parthasarathy said that Rs.104 crore was sanctioned for reinforcing the canal bund from Yanamalakuduru to Kanakadurga Varadhi.
Due priority was given to widening roads and laying new CC roads in the mandal (Penamaluru), the Minister added.
Poranki sarpanch Swaroopa Rani, Sub-Collector D. Harichandana, District Congress Committee president N. Narasimha Rao and others were present.
Clearing of petitions
Later, participating as the chief guest in Rachabanda organised near the fish market in 38th Division, Mr. Parthasarathy said that due priority was given to clearing the petitions pending since the last round of Rachabanda.
Bangaru Talli was introduced with the intention of helping the parents in taking proper care of their girl children who were subjected to discrimination at every turn in their lives, he said. Interest-free loans were being disbursed to women’s group to economically empower them. Various other schemes were being implemented for welfare of the common people, who should utilise the opportunity.
Vijayawada West MLA Vellampalli Srinivas, Municipal Commissioner C. Hari Kiran, Executive Engineer Om Prakash, Assistant Civil Supplies Officer P. Komali Padma and others were present.
