The Post Office Passport Seva Kendra opened at the main post office near the Collectorate here is steadily getting increasing number of applications from students, elderly persons and all sections of people seeking the passports for study and travel purposes.

As of now, the number of applications received per day at this passport kendra has reached nearly 100 as against 50 in the past.

The seva kendra was opened here with the objective of handling as many as 150 applications and adequate facilities and staff have been deployed here from the Regional Passport Office, Vijayawada.

In this kendra, the applications for renewal of passports were also being accepted along with those for seeking fresh passports. All the facilities for checking biometrics and documents of applicants are set up here.

A separate, spacious chamber was developed for this passport kendra in the rear premises of the main post office building.

Prior to this facility, the people of Nellore region had to go to Tirupati Passport Seva Kendra to submit their applications.

On several occasions, passport melas have been held in Nellore city when the local public had made use of that facility to get their passports.
