The temple of goddess Kanakadurga atop Indrakeeladri received 108 golden flowers in a first of its kind donation made by a devotee, on Thursday.
C.C. Kesava Rao, proprietor of Fizikem Formulations, presented the flowers weighing 432 grams in all, and valued at Rs.7.5 lakh, to N. Vijaya Kumar, Executive Officer of Sri Durga Malleswara Swamivarla Devasthanam. Mr. Kesava Rao and his family members are said to be staunch believers in the goddess and have benefited in the business. As a token of their faith in the presiding deity, Mr. Kesava Rao wanted to make a lasting contribution to the temple and approached the EO asking him to suggest an idea.
Mr. Vijaya Kumar suggested to Mr. Kesava Rao to contribute golden flowers, as the temple did not have them until now. Soon after the donation, the flowers were purified and used in the special puja performed for the first time.
Mr. Vijaya Kumar said that the flowers will henceforth be used every Thursday evening in the special ‘Swarna Pushparchana' that will be performed to the goddess on payment of Rs.2,500 by devotees. This puja will form part of the several ‘Aarjitha Sevalu' that the temple authorities have introduced recently.
