The Krishna district administration is launching smart measures to streamline various services and make things convenient for people. As part of the initiative, it launched an Aadhaar-enabled payment system for distribution of pensions in six villages on Tuesday.
Under the system, the administration, in association with banks, will facilitate cash withdrawal, mini statement, cash deposit and fund transfer for pensioners. The service was launched at Chodavaram, Nelakurru, Manginapudi, Kona, P.T.Palem and Pedayadara villages.
Officials have mapped more than 7,500 accounts, and money was deposited in nearly 4,000 accounts in the six villages. This is done through intra-operation of micro ATMs, and it involves seeding of Aadhaar-enabled bank accounts (AEBA) with the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI). On successful completion of seeding, the sponsored bank will upload the Aadhaar numbers on the Aadhaar mapper of the NPCI. After the mapping of UID numbers by the NPCI, funds will be released.
Once the beneficiaries’ Aadhaar numbers are mapped by the NPCI, the disbursing centres will issue E-payment advice/sanction to their sponsor banks along with UID number and the amount to be transferred to each beneficiary. The sponsor bank will then upload these E-payment advices to the NPCI for transferring money to pensioners accounts, explained Collector Babu. A.
“The objective is to help the beneficiaries to save money and utilise it in a better way. Unlike cash, which is highly liquid, deposits in accounts makes beneficiaries more conscious of their money,” he added.
The administration also launched a new system to help ration card holders obtain their share of commodities without hassles at fair price shops. Under the service, which was launched in more than 500 fair price shops across the district, ration card holders will get SMSes, or they will be intimated by the local fair price shops.
Card holders will get such message only when dealers get full quota of the commodities to be supplied. Later, based on Aadhaar enrolment and finger print or IRIS scan for identification, supplies will be made, he added.
