Collector N. Suresh Kumar has appealed to the JAC leaders to give exemption for emergency services during the ongoing strike and not to suffer the common public. The officials assured to cooperate for the leaders, if they take up the protests in a democratic way.
Speaking at a coordination meeting with Revenue, Police, APNGOs, leaders of various associations and the media here on Sunday, Mr. Suresh Kumar said that power supply was effected in the district on Sunday due to Electricity Joint Action Committee’s (JAC’s) strike.
He appealed to the employees to be human and give power for hospitals, drinking water, milk chilling units and other essential services, and urged the JAC leaders to take up the agitations peacefully.
Urban Superintendent of Police B.V. Ramana Kumar said as per Supreme Court’s recent judgment, persons involved in criminal cases are not eligible to contest in the elections and appealed to the leaders not to indulge in violence activities.
Mr. Ramana Kumar advised the leaders of various associations and organisations not to allow outsiders and anti-social elements into the movement and keep away from violence.
Rural SP J. Satyanarayana asked the agitators not to seize the Minister’s houses and cause harm to their family members.
He asked the protestors not to damage the public and private properties and dismantle the statues of freedom fighters and other national leaders.
“If the agitation continues peacefully, we can cooperate and if the situation goes out of hands, the law will take its own course of action”, the SP warned.
