Girls outshine boys yet again

Krishna district stood top with 81 and 84 pass percentage in Intermediate first and second year examination results respectively. A total of 8,79,688 students appeared for the examinations.

As many as 68.05 per cent students passed in first year Intermediate examinations, and 73.78 pass percentage was registered in second year.

HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao released the results of first and second year intermediate results here on Tuesday. This was the first time that the Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) released first and second year results at a time in less than a month, the Minister said.

Elaborating the performance of the students, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said of the 4,67,747 students who appeared for first year examinations, 3,18,300 passed. Girls outscored boys with 72.09 per cent, while the pass percentage in boys was 64.20 per cent. A total of 36 were booked for malpractice.

In second year, 4,11,941 attended for second year exams, of which 3,03,934 students passed. Girls continued their winning streak in the second year results too with 74.46 percentage, while the pass percentage in boys was 71.12, the Minister announced.

Visakhapatnam district stood second with 77 percent results in first year, while Nellore district occupied second position with 78 per cent pass percentage in the second year examinations, the minister added.

Supplementary exams from May 24

The minister said that BIE will conduct advanced supplementary examinations from May 24, and the last date for payment of fee for supplementary exams is April 26, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said and congratulated the BIE officials for announcing the results in a short period.
