YSR Congress MLA from Giddaluru M. Ashok Reddy joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in the presence of Chief Minister and TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu here on Wednesday. Mr. Naidu welcomed into Mr. Ashok Reddy into the party fold by presenting him a yellow scarf at a function. Earlier, majority of followers of Mr Reddy from Giddalur and Racherla mandals gave him a free hand to take a decision in the interest of people of the constituency. The YSRC in Prakasam district, which won a maximum of six Assembly seats as against five MLA seats by the TDP, received a jolt when its Addanki MLA G. Ravikumar chose to cross over to the TDP.
Kandukur MLA to switch loyalty today
Meanwhile, Kandukur MLA Pothula Rama Rao from Prakasam district announced that he would join the TDP here on Thursday.
Ongole Staff Reporter adds: “Impressed by the efforts being made by Mr Chandrababu Naidu to build ‘Navya Andhra’ , I took the decision after consultation with my followers to join the TDP in the overall interest of the people of the constituency,” Mr. Rama Rao told The Hindu . “I and my followers, including local body representatives, will join the TDP in Vijayawada on Thursday,” he added.
