The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has finalised the design for construction of a new domestic passenger terminal building, according to AAI Executive Director (Planning) Kalpana Sethi.

Responding to a representation made by Andhra Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), the ED said that the AAI was capable to provide Category-VII fire services required for operation of B-737-800 aircraft at Gannavaram (Vijayawada) airport.

The proposed domestic passenger terminal building can accommodate 300 peak hour passengers with car parking and utility building. The AAI is also preparing a proposal to modify the existing terminal building to augment the additional capacity in the security hold area.
