Friendship Day and pre-Independence Day celebrations marked the Happy Sunday programme organised on the M.G. Road near the IGMC Stadium on Sunday. Students of various schools and colleges took part.

The special performances for patriotic numbers by kids and students dressed in tri-colour stood as special attraction while flying national flag fixed with a bunch of nitrogen filled balloons caught the attention of the people.

Municipal Commissioner J. Nivas, his wife Papitha Nivas, and Andal Veerapandian, wife of former VMC chief and Anantapur district Collector G. Veerapandian, also took part in the programme. Students of the M.S.R. High School presented cultural performances. Clay Ganesh concept was promoted at the programme ahead of the Vinayaka Chaviti.

On the sidelines of the programme, students celebrated Friendship Day.

Meanwhile, Municipal Commissioner J. Nivas inspected the Rajiv Gandhi and Raghavaiah parks and asked horticulture authorities to immediately take up repair works and bring to use the paraphernalia that would attract visitors.
