Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA) project director Siva Sankar Rao inaugurated the camp. Addressing a gathering Mr. Siva Sankar Rao said that of all the animals that were kept as pets by man the dog was the most faithful. Humans had a big responsibility of taking good care of such a faithful animal. Dog owners also had the great responsibility of getting the dogs rabies vaccine every year, he said. He said rabies vaccines were given free of charge to pet dogs once every year, he said.

Veterinary College faculty member K. Suresh said that puppies were separated from the mother dogs within 30 days of birth. But there was a need to give the puppies proper nutrition after separation from the mother dog, he said. He said calcium should be given in addition to nutritive diet to big sized dogs.
