Widening of the Machilipatnam – Manginapudi beach road is likely to be completed by December. The Central government has sanctioned ₹ 13 crore for laying four-lane road between Chilakalapudi railway station and Tallapalem area along the coastal belt of Machilipatnam .
Roads and Buildings Department Executive Engineer K. Murali Krishna told The Hindu that the works of the widening of the two-lane into a four-lane road that commenced in June last year were likely to be completed by December. The total length of the road is above nine kilometers and it directly connects to the Manginapudi beach road as well as the area proposed for Machilipatnam deep sea port. The widening of the road was to provide better road infrastructure in the area where Machilipatnam Industrial Corridor was proposed by the State government.
“At least 80% of the project has been completed,” Mr. Murali Krishna said. Law and Sports Minister K. Ravindra said in various meetings that better road connectivity to the beach would attract more tourists. Also, an approach road from the State road to the Manginapudi beach has been laid, allowing the vehicles of the tourists close to the beach.
