Four persons, including a couple, met with a tragic end when the car in which they were travelling in crashed into a roadside tree on the outskirts of Aswaraopet town in the early hours of Thursday.

The police identified the deceased as M Bhaskar Rao, 58, an owner of a private pipe manufacturing firm of Nidadavolu in West Godavari district, his wife M Lakshmi, 54, close relative Charumathi Devi, 45, and car driver Srinivas.

Vijaya, another occupant of the ill-fated vehicle, suffered critical injuries in the mishap. She was rushed to a super-specialty hospital in Vijaywada. Her condition is stated to be progressing

The car carrying a marriage party from Palvancha to Nidadavolu veered to the extreme right and rammed into a tree near Aswaraopet around 5.30 am, said T Suresh Kumar, Circle Inspector, Aswaraopet.

Bhaskar Rao and the car driver Srinivas were killed instantaneously, and two others including Lakshmi, wife of Bhaskar Rao, succumbed to their injuries at a hospital in Aswaraopet.
