With just 20% of the renovation completed at the Kondapalli fort, the Secretary, Department of Tourism, Language and Culture, has cracked the whip on the officials of the Archaeology Department.

According to a press release on Friday, Mukesh Kumar Meena paid a surprise visit at the fort, where renovation at the cost of ₹7.4 crore had started five months ago and was to be completed in the remaining four months.

Wants more workers

Mr. Meena asked the contractors to stop the construction of toilets and placement of garbage bins along the fort wall.

He instructed them to widen the entrance path and demanded an increase in the number of workers. Besides, he asked officials incharge to submit a detailed report on the work by 11 a.m. at the Secretariat.

The allocated funds were meant for renovating the durbar hall and constructing a museum.
