The East Zone police registered cases against former minister and YSR Congress leader Kolusu Parthasarathi, Penamaluru TDP MLA Bode Prasad and their supporters under the provisions of the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

The development follows a clash between the activists of the YSR Congress and the Telugu Desam at Penamaluru village on the city outskirts on Thursday night reportedly over removal of flexi boards of a party. The TDP workers reportedly damaged the vehicle of the former minister.

Penamaluru police, who rushed to the spot, caned the protesters and brought the situation under control. Later, the agitated activists of the two parties reached the police station and staged a protest demanding action against those who created trouble.

East Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) K.M. Maheswara Raju said following the complaints of the YSR Congress and the TDP, cases have been registered and investigation was under progress. The situation in the village was under control on Friday.
