The East Zone Police on Friday registered cases against former Minister and YSRC leader Kolusu Parthasarathi, Penamaluru MLA and TDP leader Bode Prasad and their supporters under the provisions of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

The development follows a clash between YSRC and TDP activists at Penamaluru on the city outskirts on Thursday night, reportedly over the removal of flexi boards of one party.

The TDP workers also reportedly damaged Parthasarathi’s vehicle.

The Penamaluru police who rushed to the spot caned the protestors and brought the situation under control. Later, the activists of the two parties staged a protest in front of the police station demanding action against those responsible for the trouble.

East Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police K.M. Maheswara Raju said following the complaints from the YSRC and the TDP, cases had been registered, and investigation was on.
