Fix “East’s” water woes: Veerapandian

: Municipal Commissioner G. Veerapandian ordered officials concerned to come up with plans to establish a permanent pipeline system to provide drinking water for the residents of the East constituency.

Mr. Veerapandian visited the 10MGD water plant at Ramalingeswara Nagar on Wednesday.

Pipelines damaged

Plant officials told Mr. Veerapandian that pipelines carrying water from the Krishna River to the plant were damaged during the 2009 floods which started polluting the drinking water and later an alternative arrangement was made.

Mr Veerapandian, who inspected the current setup, asked officials to come up with plans so that the problem is overcome permanently.

Fencing

He also directed officials to set up fencing for the solar panels part of the sewage treatment plant at Ramalingeswara Nagar.

Chief engineer Shukoor and others were present.
