Five held, stolen property worth 30 lakhs recovered

Vijayawada police, on Wednesday, arrested five persons involved in a robbery that occurred on March 19 in which 2.5 kg of gold, 10 kg of silver and Rs 3 lakh case that belonged to jeweller Malyadri were stolen and recovered gold, silver and a car worth Rs 30 lakh on Wednesday. Central ACP Avula Subba Rao at a press conference produced Adapa Venkanna and four others who were involved in the robbery.

Mr Subba Rao said Adapa Venkanna, Rayapati Venkanna and two others allegedly robbed Mr Malyadri at the behest of the jewellers relative Gopalakrishna. Adapa Venkanna and Gopalakrishna were arrested by the police while they were allegedly trying to sell the gold in Guntur and recovered 160 sovereigns of gold, eight kg of silver and the car.

Police Commissioner P.S.R.Anjeneyulu commending the working of the department personnel said a special team had been constituted with Governorpet CI Prasada Rao and Machavaram SI Kamalakar Rao to crack big robbery and theft cases along with the regular CCS staff.
