Excessive humidity and profuse sweating causing them a lot of discomfort.
With temperatures crossing 45 degrees Celsius in city, die-hard fitness freaks are feeling the heat. Excessive humidity and the resultant profuse sweating are causing them a lot of discomfort. And, doctors are cautioning them to take extra precautions. “Short workouts not exceeding 45 minutes” is the primary advice to fitness enthusiasts.
“Even your usual one-mile walk could cause dehydration in summer. People tend to ignore symptoms like dizziness, breathlessness or leg cramps. If the symptoms persist, one should stop workout,” says Dr. P. Anil Kumar of Ramesh Hospitals. “Heart and diabetic patients should not hit the track or do exercise without a personal assistant. They should carry emergency and life-saving drugs,” Dr. Kumar cautions.
