The first phase of the 2011 census in Krishna district began with the officials of Revenue Department and the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation surveying the household of Minister for Animal Husbandry K. Parthasarathy on Monday.
The Minister said that the census was crucial to establish the exact economic status and administration of the country. A population census was very important for State and Central governments to provide essential amenities and sustainable development along with a stable administration. The identity card that would be issued to citizens on completion of the census would have all the important details incorporated into it, he said.
The district Collector's camp office and residence was the second household where officials conducted the census. The Collector, Peeyush Kumar, said that every citizen should extend all cooperation to the officials on census duty.
Municipal Commissioner G. Ravi Babu, Sub-Collector K. Dharma Reddy and other officials conducted the census in these two households. The officials conducted census in the households of several elected representatives in the city. Census survey teams visited the households of MLAs Malladi Vishnu, Yelamanchili Ravi, Vellampalli Srinivas, MLC Ilapuram Venkaiah and Police Commissioner P.S.R. Anjeneyulu.
The Municipal Commissioner in a press release said that VMC officers have been designated to oversee the smooth conduct of the census in the three circles of the Corporation. Two senior officers have been allocated to each circle and their mobile numbers are – Circle One: B. Srinivasa Rao 9866514161 and M. Venkata Subbaiah 9949517005; Circle Two: M.V. Suryanarayana 9866514150 and B. Sridevi 9866514148; and Circle Three: J. V. Ramakrishna 9866514163 and Prabhakar 9949030940.
Census-2011, the biggest enumerative exercise in the world, began in Guntur on Monday.
Under the Guntur Municipal Corporation's purview, 1,016 enumerators headed by 106 supervisors would conduct the exercise.
A team of officials led by Deputy Commissioner K. Lakshminarayana called on Major Industries Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana at his house in Kannavari Thota and collected the data of his family from him. Later, the team collected data from District Collector B. Ramanjaneyulu, Inspector General of Police K.R.M Kishore Kumar, Guntur-East MLA Sk. Mastan Vali, and former MLA N. Subhani.
District Census Officer (in-charge) M. Vara Prasada Rao said that a census grievance cell would function on the premises of GMC Traveller's Bungalow. People can call 0863-2229636 to clarify their doubts.
The GMC has appointed Ch. Venkateswarulu as Census Charge Officer-1, V. Chandra Sekhar as Charge Officer-11, K. Dhanunjay Reddy as Census In-charge (GMC), K. Lakshmi Narayana as City Census Officer and P. Dhanumjaya as joint principle census officer.
